Ebooks are a marvellous new way of reading books on your computer. Sure, you've seen word processors and other ways of reading on the computer, but this is different. Firstly, you use a peice of software called an ebook reader (more of that in how to read). Ebook readers display the ebook like a real book with a cover and page numbers. They often use very easy to read to read fonts. Reading with an ebook reader can be a very pleasant experience. You can do things you do with an ordinary book, like highlight passages or bookmark them. You can also do things you cannot do with an ordinary book, like search for a particular phrase or look up a word in a dictionary from within the ebook. Some readers, using text-to-speech, will even read out the ebook for you. There are other advantages too.

A computer is awfully heavy to carry around, but not if you have a handheld or laptop computer.  Our formats cover both Pocket PCs and Palm.  On a reasonable size handheld you can carry a dozen books and read them anywhere, and handhelds aren't that heavy.
